I F***ing Love Science is headed to television by way of the Science Channel and Craig Ferguson.
CBS’ very late night talk show host made the announcement via videotape at the I F***ing Love Science event at SXSW on Saturday, March 8 that the TV iteration of the incredibly popular Facebook page started by British biology student Elise Andrew just two short years ago (and now boasts more than 10.7 million fans) was greenlit by the cable channel in Discovery Networks’ portfolio that’s strictly for science.
“If you know anything about me, you know I love science,” said Ferguson in the message. “Science has a naughty secret — it’s that all things are connected. And this show is going to explore the randomness of science. Think of it as a late night Google search that goes a hundred pages deep until things get weird — and then you just keep going. And there is no better partner for this kind of smart entertainment like Science Channel and Elise.”

If you’re wondering if Ferguson’s enthusiasm for the brand and its traditional and new media offshoots is legit, you obviously haven’t watched much Ferguson. Here’s a classic monologue from his Late Late Show that proves the 51-year-old Scottish-born American is an inquisitive and thoughtful individual who delights in coming up with unified theories of “Why Everything Sucks” and everything else.
The one-hour TV version of I F***ing Love Science will be a mix of live-action, animation, and recreations of things humorous, strange, and awe-inspiring in the physical universe. Andrew, however, will not be hosting (seemingly per her own choice to be “behind the scenes happily producing”). She’s on board as a consulting producer while Ferguson and Rebecca Tucker of Green Mountain West Productions, Sarah Wetherbee of Karga7 Pictures, and Debbie Adler Myers and Rocky Collins of the Science Channel will executive produce.
Andrew is also the Chief Curator of the Science Channel’s user-generated content-heavy online video offshoot Sci2.tv and the host of the I F***ing Love Science web series. Andrew launched the latter with Discovery under the banner of its Test Tube online video network back in August 2013.
