As our industry becomes ever more populated by experts, and in the absence of collaborative spots like YouTube Spaces (RIP), creators have stepped up to help educate the current and next generations of content-makers–and teach folks outside our space how valuable creators really are.

The latest example of this is Bedford–a new startup that bills itself as an “educational institution designed for individuals, entrepreneurs, and organizations to master the defining skill of the modern workforce: creating content to communicate expertise, build credibility, and generate opportunity.”

Founded by Ben Newton, who previously co-founded and CEO’d childcare and education company Vivvi, Bedford has snagged founding advisors including YouTubers Jordan Matter, Michelle Khare, and Samir Chaudry, as well as Will Houghteling, Director of AI Product at Google; organizational psychologist/bestselling author Adam Grant; Katherine Rundell, veteran creator exec with experience at a16z, beehiiv, and Twitter; and Sunil Gupta, a professor at Harvard Business School and an expert in digital strategy.

Bedford has a similar annual tuition structure to other creator industry education programs we’ve seen pop up: It charges a yearly membership fee of $3,750 for continued access to educational programming, exclusive events, and mentor support.

That being said, though, all new members start their time at Bedford with a six-week personalized course. The company says that participants in this course “range from entrepreneurs to senior executives, while companies and brands can partner with Bedford to help their teams become more digitally fluent and effective communicators to drive opportunity.”

The course involves a “structured cycle of ideation, production, publication, and refinement of content,” Bedford says, with individualized coaching, peer reviews, and creator-in-residence feedback, as well as (of course, given the current trend) AI workflows.

“Content is the new resume, portfolio, and professional signal,” Newton said in a statement. “In today’s AI-driven creator-focused economy, expertise alone is not sufficient. Entrepreneurs, academics, and executives need to develop themselves as creators or influencers and share their knowledge on digital platforms to build trust, open doors, and grow. Bedford runs alongside learners, making the process systematic, repeatable, and directly tied to economic and professional opportunity.”

Bedford’s first cohort will begin July 20. Anyone interested in applying can check out its website.
