During the month of April, Indian channels were in the driver’s seat in our Tubefilter charts. Our monthly ranking of the 100 most-watched YouTube channels includes four consecutive Indian hubs at the front of the line.

These chart-toppers don’t need special skills to excel on Shorts. Instead of pushing the envelope, they’re relying on the tried-and-true formulas that have been proven to work on YouTube’s short-form format.
Chart Toppers
Anaya Kandhal had a dominant month during April 2024. In each of our weekly charts released during the month, young Anaya and her family finished in the #1 spot. Naturally, that wire-to-wire excellence made Anaya Kandhal the world’s most-watched YouTube channel during April. The kid-friendly Indian channel sits atop our Global Top 100 thanks to a 30-day total of 3.24 billion monthly views. That total represented a month-over-month viewership increase of 48%, and Anaya moved up to first after ranking third in the world in March.
When I checked our charts during April, Anaya Kandhal always occupied the top line, and like clockwork, T-Series was always right behind. The Indian record label put together a string of #2 finishes in our weekly rankings, and those runner-up performances cemented it as the second-most watched channel of the month. Over 30 days, T-Series collected 2.66 billion monthly views, which was close to its total from the previous month. T-Series is still the most subscribed channel on YouTube, but it could lose that distinction as early as next month.
The next channel in the Indian cavalcade of chart-toppers is The geeta gurjar. That’s the name of a hub that features the adventures of a mother and daughter. Like Anaya Kandhal, The geeta gurjar uses wholesome themes and broad comedy to appeal to YouTube Shorts viewers around the world. Its universal children’s videos brought in 2.13 billion monthly views during April. That put The geeta gurjar in third place one month after it ranked 20th. That big bump was fueled by a month-over-month viewership of 42%.
KL Bro Biju Rithvik is the last of the four Indian channels in this month’s global top five. Like the channels above it (other than T-Series), this hub focuses on family content and pays particular attention to viewers in the “Bharat” (non-English speaking) communities of India. Those viewers have made KL Bro one of the biggest YouTube channels in the world, with more than 36 billion lifetime views. 2.05 billion of those views came during the month of April, when KL Bro improved its traffic by 9% month-over-month.
The creator who is on track to take T-Series’ subscriber record rounds out this month’s global top five. MrBeast had another effective month thanks to his combo of long-form and short-form programming. That mix delivered 1.98 billion monthly views to his primary YouTube hub.
Top Gainers
Thanks to Shorts, legendary channels from YouTube’s past are getting second chances in the spotlight. We’ve already talked about the short-form renaissance of one-time most-subscribed creator Ray William Johnson, and another YouTube fave from the same era has now cracked the Global Top 100.
I’m talking about Red Bull, the Austria-based energy drink company that’s famous for its extreme sports programming on the internet. Once upon a time, the Red Bull YouTube channel was a go-to hub for record-breaking streams and inventive long-form videos that highlighted some of the most impressive extreme sports athletes in the world.
2024, however, is the era of Shorts, and Red Bull has always paid attention to the latest trends in tech. Its decision to embrace short-form programming has allowed it to stay relevant as the sports content landscape has changed. Shorts viewers, for example, are obsessed with parkour, and Red Bull has followed suit with some freerunning videos of its own. It’s not skimping on the record attempts, either, as its most-watched YouTube Shorts upload shows us.
Red Bull’s ability to understand the shifting online video “meta” has propelled it back into the Global Top 100 for the first time in years. It took the final place in the ranking — #100 — during a month when it accrued 681.3 million monthly views and brought its subscriber count up to 15.5 million. Red Bull advanced from far outside the top 100 by increasing its traffic 58% month-over-month.
Since Red Bull is ranked 100th, there’s still plenty of room for it to move up. It may not move up quite as quickly as it did this month, but it’s always one exciting flugtag away from its next big jump.
