Oh Canada! Our neighbors to the north had a strong showing in the latest Global Top 50. Two Canadian hubs ranked among the five most-watched YouTube channels during the first full week of February.

The #1 channel, however, hails from the other side of the globe.
Chart Toppers
For the second time in three weeks, ToRung has reached the #1 spot in the Global Top 50. The Vietnamese comedy channel got off to a strong start in February. It increased its viewership by 32% week-over-week and brought its lifetime YouTube viewership above seven billion total hits. By earning 732.3 million weekly views, ToRung vaulted above T-Series and ascended to the top of our worldwide ranking. The videos on this channel may be ridiculous, but there’s nothing funny about the traffic it receives week in and week out.
T-Series is up next in the Global Top 50. Last week’s first-place finisher was relegated to the #2 slot even though it collected 689.4 million weekly views. That sum was about 130 million views higher than the next-highest weekly total, but T-Series’ traffic was not quite extensive enough to keep up with ToRung. There’s a clear disparity between the top two chart toppers and the rest of the Top 50 entrants, but in the volatile, up-and-down era of YouTube Shorts, that gap could be closed within a week.
Sierra & Rhia FAM is the first of two Canadian channels in this week’s global top five. After getting off to a strong start in 2024, the family-oriented hub came up all 1s at the start of February: It reached 11 million subscribers and 11 billion lifetime views. It was able to achieve those milestones thanks to its 559.9 million weekly views, which gave it a second consecutive third-place finish in the Global Top 50.
The next channel in the Global Top 50 also has a lot of 1s in its stats. What are the odds? Vlad and Niki now has 111 million subscribers to go along with its 85 billion lifetime views. The kidfluencer channel ranked the highest among all the U.S.-based entrants in this week’s global chart. With 511.5 million weekly views, Vlad and Niki returned to the top five after placing eighth a week ago. It earned its four-spot boost by hiking its YouTube traffic by 40% week-over-week. That increase made it one of just four channels to cross the 500 million view mark this week.
Canada-based Diary of 4 rounds out this week’s global top five. Like Sierra & Rhia, Diary of 4 is a family-focused channel with fans around the world. Led by its library of Shorts content, it picked up 471.8 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
In the East Asian Shorts creator community, there’s a new girl in town. Her name is Sakura ShinHye, and she has been on a slow and steady march toward the top of our charts since she established her YouTube channel in 2022.
In her channel’s About section, Sakura describes herself as a girl from Japan who uses YouTube as her “creative haven.” She describes the bulk of her Shorts activity as “entertaining short videos that promise a dose of laughter and joy.”
A closer look at her most-watched Shorts reveals some typical aggregated content and some videos that give off a slight AI-generated vibe. But the channel’s top two Shorts caught my attention: They both feature an aggressive character — maybe Sakura herself, maybe not — who lives a hard-drinking lifestyle and likes to give her boyfriend some attitude while skewering corn in a devil-may-care manner. As per usual, embedding this hit Short is easier than describing it.
Our most attentive readers may remember the sigma girl trend that made waves on YouTube last year thanks to Korean channels like CuRe and CRAZY GREAPA. Sakura seems to be the next creator bringing the sigma attitude to Shorts. Her fierce, independent streak is a hit with short-form viewers, and she seems destined for the sort of channel growth that has been bestowed upon other sigmas.
During the first full week of February, we got a sign of Sakura’s traffic to come. She picked up 296.7 million weekly views to move into 22nd place in the Global Top 50. That total was good for a 19% week-over-week bump, which pushed Sakura’s lifetime YouTube traffic above one billion.
Sakura’s subscription count has moved above one million as well. This sigma will be one to keep in mind — and she’s got the right attitude for the job.
