As Movieclips Celebrates 10 Million Subscribers, Its Owner Fandango Builds New Studio Space

The Movieclips YouTube channel recently reached 10 million subscribers, and its team celebrated in the only way that made sense — with movie clips. The Fandango-owned brand released a celebratory supercut that features dozens of utterances of the words “thank you” in famous movies.

The video is not Movieclips’ first supercut; the channel, which is known for collecting notable snippets from films past and present, has previously paid tribute to memorable movie screams and Tom Cruise’s stamina. This time, it has rolled out its more polite compilation to date. The featured “thank you” clips come from flicks like Pulp Fiction, The Mask, Coming to America, and The Hunger Games.

“Everyone loves movies and the YouTube audience has wide-ranging tastes covering every movie, no matter the genre or box office performance,” Movieclips Senior Content Manager Karl Bowman told Tubefilter. “We have loved supporting the fandom surrounding these movies since we launched the original Movieclips YouTube channel back in 2011. Film fans have really supported us and continue to discover these evergreen movie moments in larger numbers every year. The U.S. audience is thriving, but we have seen many new subscribers coming from the UK, India, Brazil and Latin America. We are incredibly grateful for such a loyal and international fan base.”

Fandango, which acquired Movieclips in 2014, is in the middle of a period of significant growth. The ticketing service has announced a new studio, which is set to open at its Beverly Hills headquarters. From there, its employees will be able to host live streams and share original content on multiple platforms. One show that will be shot there is Weekend Ticket, first launched in 2013, which runs through movies that are available in theaters.
