This week, two different channels added at least one million new subscribers on YouTube. One of them, MrBeast, happens to be the most-subscribed channel on YouTube. The other, The Stokes Twins, is no slouch either. The brotherly duo reaches 138 million subscribers, which sounds pretty impressive to anyone not named Jimmy Donaldson.

All of the channels in the Global Sub Top 50 added at least 212,000 new subscribers during the third full week of March. Amid that group, we found a high-wire act whose videos are ensuring that extreme sports remain a big deal on YouTube Shorts.
To succeed on YouTube, it helps to be flexible (literally)
Is gymnastics about to become the next big sport on YouTube? Anna McNulty certainly hopes so.
McNulty is Canada’s lone representative in this week’s Global Sub Top 50. She’s also the latest hitmaker in a lineage of acrobatic creators who have thrived online. If you get a kick out of Sofie Dossi, Livvy Dunne, or parkour channels like Storror, McNulty might become your next Shorts feed sensation.
Let’s go through the numbers: McNulty just added 300,000 weekly YouTube subscribers to bring her total tally up to 13 million. She currently sits in 26th place in the Global Sub Top 50, only a few spots behind one-time chart toppers Jasmin and James.
When you watch her most-viewed Shorts uploads, it’s not hard to see why she’s so successful. McNulty’s videos combine the appeal of challenge videos with the suspense of strategic editing. Her aerial abilities add the “wow” factor that puts her channel over the top.
McNulty’s success on YouTube and Dunne’s success in the NIL landscape show us that gymnastics stars are currently having a moment in the creator world. In a world where viewers can flip through 10 impressive stunts in under a minute, it helps to possess enough flexibility and power to pull off the stunts that power McNulty’s biggest videos.
But you don’t need to be a trained gymnast to capture that magic. After all, the channel right above McNulty’s in the Global Sub Top 50 puts a more homemade spin on stunt content.
The channel in question is called Mr. Indian Hacker, but its star isn’t breaking into computers or accessing the mainframe. This “hacker” is more of a tinkerer; he and his friends build impressive gadgets and use themselves as the guinea pigs.
This is where things start to get a bit hairy. A lot of Mr. Indian Hacker’s videos have a “don’t try this at home” vibe, except he is trying it at his home (or so it appears). Is he serving as a bad influence when he sacrifices his body for the sake of a stunt? Maybe, but his 50 million YouTube subscribers don’t seem to mind.
I would like to remind YouTube’s stunt artists why the Oscars don’t have a “Best Stunts” category. Encouraging extreme athletes to go as big as possible can sometimes have unintended consequences, so viewers at home should be careful before attempting to recreate Mr. Indian Hacker’s biggest hits.
If you must become a stunt star on YouTube, maybe use Anna McNulty as inspiration instead. Learning her acrobatic skills takes time and effort, but the payoff is worth it — even if it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be able to hang onto your gold play button.
