The “Argentinian MrBeast” surged past the original, American MrBeast to reach first place in our Global Sub Top 50 ranking. During the second full week of February, Alejo Igoa added one million new subscribers to top our ranking of YouTube’s most-followed hubs. MrBeast also added about one million new subscribers over the same period, but he’ll have to settle for second place this time.

All of the channels that cracked the Global Sub Top 50 ranking did so by adding at least 210,000 new subscribers over a seven-day period. For many of those creators, a popular video game is become a vital audience acquisition tool.
The Roblox revolution is Brazil’s time to shine
These days, you don’t have to go too deep into the Global Sub Top 50 before encountering Roblox. The sandbox game is to Gen Alpha what Minecraft was to Gen Z: A video game-turned-storytelling engine that has become a cultural touchstone for kids around the world. That level of enthusiasm explains why Roblox got its trillionth YouTube view last year.
For several of the Roblox channels that cracked this week’s Global Sub Top 50, the platform’s narrative qualities are on full display. Minigames give creators the freedom to tap into meme culture and chase seasonal trends, and YouTube Shorts is the canvas on which those pieces are painted.
NitroBoosty exemplifies those narrative sensibilities. His most-watched public short has a little bit of everything: A MrBeast-style escalation, a setting that connects to the Winter Olympics, and a little PvP for good measure. Put it all together, and you have a channel that added 290,000 new subscribers during the week that was. A nitro boost, indeed.
NitroBoosty’s videos speak to English-language viewers, but Roblox is hardly just an American game. A look at the most common nationalities on the platform can be enlightening, because it lets us predict which countries will start showing up in greater numbers in our charts.
This week, there are five Brazilian representatives in the Global Sub Top 50. Of that group, the highest-ranking individual is Nicole Maffi, who placed sixth in the ranking after adding 610,000 new subscribers. That uptick brought her total subscriber count above eight million.
Maffi, like NitroBoosty, uploads narrative videos. Her Roblox content includes in-game adaptations of videos that were originally shot in real life. Some of those machinima clips have received more than 20 million views.
As far as Roblox content goes, this is nothing out of the ordinary. But if Roblox continues to eat up a bigger slice of the Top 50, will creators from Brazil — which once counted the most Roblox players of any country other than the U.S. — gain a more secure foothold on the mountain of global culture? Can someone like Melli challenge MrBeast and Alejo Igoa at the top of our charts?
It’s certainly a good time to be a Brazilian Robloxer, but these days, The Philippines has a claim as the nation with the highest proportion of Roblox-obsessed youngsters. Filipino players have used the game to spark broad national movements, so it’s only a matter of time before the start showing up in our charts, too.
