A company at the heart of the creator economy has made some changes to its executive team. Spotter, which offers creator counseling and disburses capital through catalog licensing and other monetization tools, has named Sam Rogoway as its Chief Operating Officer while installing previous COO Nic Paul as its President.

Rogoway is joining Spotter less than a year after he left Linktree, where he held the title of Chief Product Officer. Rogoway’s experience in the creator economy predates the use of that term; a decade ago, he teamed up with former YouTube exec Bing Chen to launch Victorious, a startup that helped influencers build and monetize their own apps. Mindfulness app Headspace acquired Victorious in 2019.

The industry knowledge Rogoway has accumulated will serve him well in his new role at Spotter. The company that pioneered the catalog licensing model has expanded its services by positioning itself as a stable of creator economy experts. It recently facilitated a partnership between Prime Video and MrBeast by introducing the Beast Games partners to one another.

“It is inspiring to join a team that walks the walk when it comes to putting creators first and has been pivotal in empowering the transformation of the creator economy,” Rogoway said in a statement. “Spotter’s capital, knowledge, community, and now AI-powered software have helped so many YouTubers transcend into true media brands, and establish themselves as changemakers and businesses that go beyond their channel.”

The man Rogoway is replacing as Spotter’s COO has helped dictate Spotter’s strategy by steering its catalog licensing pacts toward deserving creators. Since Paul joined Spotter in 2019, the company has deployed nearly $900 million through deals that allow creators to reinvest in themselves and their channels.

Rogoway will report to Spotter CEO and Founder Aaron DeBevoise. In a statement, DeBevoise celebrated Paul’s promotion and praised the new President as an “incredible partner since our founding.”
