As YouTube bids MatPat a happy retirement, the outgoing Theory host is already making his next move

Matthew Patrick won’t officially retire from his Game Theory hosting duties until March 9, but he’s already planning his return to the content network he made famous. In one of his final Theory videos, the man known as MatPat announced that he will co-host an event called Creators in Fashion on the Style Theorists channel on April 25.

MatPat announced in January that he would step away from his on-screen Theorists role. He and his wife Stephanie had previously sold their brand to startup Lunar X in a December 2022 deal. In a video titled “Goodbye Internet,” which has been seen more than 19 million times to date, MatPat discussed the stress his creator gig had put on him. “As much as I love you, and I love overthinking things, and I love theorizing, I don’t love late nights,” he said.

As the final MatPat-hosted Theory video approached its March 9 release date, YouTube got together some of its biggest creators (including Jacksepticeye, MrBeast, and Rosanna Pansino) for a star-studded farewell address. The video also includes some input from Mrs. MatPat herself. “As the channels grew up, we also grew up somewhere along the line, and I’ve been so proud of every milestone we’ve seen across the years,” Stephanie said in the clip.

MatPat may be giving up his most notable gig, but he

won’t be disappearing from the YouTube community. A few days after he dropped ‘Goodbye Internet,’ he was announced as a VidCon Featured Creator. Now, he has revealed the event that will bring him back to his on-screen Theorists role: Creators in Fashion.

Scheduled for April 25, Creators in Fashion will bring together some of the influencers who are redefining haute couture with their buzzy collections. “They’re designing apparel, they’re building businesses and brands on par with some of the biggest names that you see in Vogue or walking in fashion week, and we want to give them all a moment to thrive here, live, on the channel,” MatPat said in a video on the Style Theorists channel.

MatPat will lead Creators in Fashion alongside Amy Roberts, who has been with Style Theorists since its inception and is taking over as the channel’s full-time emcee. To celebrate the work of his co-host, MatPat created a playlist of her best moments on the fashion-forward hub.

Even though Theorist fans will still see MatPat on screen from time to time, the wise creator seems ready for the next phase of his career. Stephanie put it best in YouTube’s farewell video: “From where I’m sitting,” she said, “I have a feeling the best is yet to come.”
