This week’s Global Top 50 ranking is led by four channels that crossed the 500 million view mark — and a fifth that fell just short of that threshold.

The channel that finished February on top of the YouTube world is a Shorts standout that has experienced rapid growth since the start of the new year. It is making its second consecutive appearance atop our worldwide ranking.
Chart Toppers
MaviGadget‘s progress in our charts during February is emblematic of YouTube Shorts’ volatility. Two weeks after falling out of the top five, MaviGadget banked a second-straight #1 finish in the Global Top 50 by collecting 711.8 million weekly views. The Shorts hub is filled with videos that depict machinery, technology, and time-saving innovations, and viewers are flocking to those clips in massive (if uneven) numbers. MaviGadget increased its traffic by 7% week-over-week to bring its lifetime YouTube viewership above 20 billion views.
20 billion is a massive number of YouTube views, but as impressive as MaviGadget’s lifetime traffic may be, that sum is dwarfed by the runner-up in this week’s Global Top 50. T-Series followed up a rare #3 finish with a return to its typical top-two form. The Indian record label collected 667.4 million weekly views during the final week of February. Assuming that T-Series maintains its current pace, it will become the first channel with 250 billion YouTube views before the end of the year. It will be a while before anyone else reaches that benchmark, and T-Series’ lifetime viewership may never be matched at all.
A Canadian channel that got off to a hot start in 2024 is still racking up top-five finishes two months in. Diary of 4 has utilized the tropes that power many family channels: It delivers prank videos and other colorful clips on YouTube Shorts, where it has become the most-watched channel from its home country. Diary of 4 added another chapter to its success story during our most recent seven-day measurement period, when it added 546 million weekly views. With that performance, it moved up one spot to third place in the Global Top 50.
Like MaviGadget and T-Series, the fourth-place occupant in the latest Global Top 50 is a channel that has already counted multiple #1 finishes during 2024. ToRung has broken out of its home country of Vietnam by combining slapstick antics with over-the-top performances and strange thumbnails that entice viewers to click. Perhaps the novelty of ToRung thumbnails is wearing off, because it lost 16% of its traffic week-over-week. Even after that dip, it still counted a huge seven-day total of 507 million weekly views.
Vlad and Niki rounded out this week’s global top five. The long-running kidfluencer channel, led by the two titular boys, picked up 495.7 million views during the week that was.
Top Gainers
Last week, I tried to figure out why Generation Alpha loves Ohio so much. In this Top Gainers section, I’m fixating my Millennial brain on another phenomenon that’s clicking with today’s youth: Roblox.
In the creator economy and our Global Top 50 charts, Roblox is nothing new. Channels like LankyBox have cracked our rankings by playing some of the silliest Roblox experiences that have ever been built.
Is a shift in culture changing the way Gen Alpha experiences Roblox? The game creation platform’s latest financial update indicated that 30% of all Roblox play time in 2023 went to the top ten games. Rainbow Friends is one breakout hit that has taken the Roblox community by storm. It’s a blend of problem-solving and horror that has captivated its player base while spawning a fresh batch of memes.
A channel called Rainbow Friends Fans is moving up to the charts thanks to its connection to the titular game. Like the Top Gainer I wrote about last week, this channel uses its Gen Alpha-approved handle as a catch-all for the weird randomness young Shorts viewers seem to love. The only times I understand this channel is when the skibidi toilet heads start showing up. Since when did something that strange provide a sense of normalcy?
You don’t need to get the Rainbow Friends Shorts community to understand the impact it is having on the format’s traffic. The Rainbow Friends Fans hub picked up 323 million weekly views and jump-scared its way into 17th place in the Global Top 50. One week after landing outside our worldwide ranking, Rainbow Friends Fans ascended to its highest-ever chart position thanks to a week-over-week increase of 84%.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go talk to some Roblox players so that I can understand what the heck is happening on Shorts.
