Quinta Brunson returned to her BuzzFeed stomping grounds to promote season three of ‘Abbott Elementary’

Before she was the creator, writer, and star of the hit ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary, funnywoman Quinta Brunson was an employee at BuzzFeed and a contributor to the media company’s network of digital channels. Ahead of the long-awaited season three premiere of Abbott, Brunson returned to BuzzFeed alongside her castmates to complete one of the brand’s signature quizzes.

Brunson established herself on her personal channels on YouTube and Instagram before joining BuzzFeed in 2015. Through her regular appearances in the company’s YouTube videos — alongside other breakout stars like Safiya NygaardMichelle Khare, and The Try Guys — she unlocked new creative opportunities. In 2016, she created and starred in Broke, which was one of the first originals to launch on the service then known as YouTube Red. (It’s called YouTube Premium now.)

After splitting from BuzzFeed, Brunson got a chance to bring her talents to ABC, and she soon won an Emmy for her writing on Abbott Elementary. The school-set sitcom had a long hiatus during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, but its third season arrived on February 7. One day prior, Brunson and her castmates starred on the BuzzFeed Celeb

channel, where they determined which of the show’s characters best aligned with their respective personalities. None of them got the same answer as me — I’m Mr. Johnson!

The BuzzFeed Celeb channel regularly hosts quiz-oriented cast interviews with the stars of popular shows and movies. The cast of Stranger Things, for example, stopped by for a 2019 clip that has drawn more than 30 million views to date.

Brunson may no longer be involved in BuzzFeed’s operations, but the New York-based media company continues to launch new programming. Its shows arrive on its homegrown channels and on the hubs run by subsidiaries like Complex Networks. One recently launched original is a spinoff of the smash-hit interview series Hot Ones. In Hot Ones Versus, two notable individuals face off in a spicy wing duel. The first episode features Gabriel Iglesias and Emilio Rivera.
