The final month of the year was dominated by a single YouTube channel, at least as far as our charts are concerned.

The channel in question cleared three billion views in December. Only one other hub even surpassed the two million mark — now that’s what I call dominance.
Chart Toppers
The channel that ended 2023 on a high note is the same one that has dominated our charts for as long as we’ve published them. T-Series holds many YouTube records, including most lifetime views, most subscribers, and most #1 finishes in our Global Top 100. The Indian record label added to all of those numbers in December 2023, when it returned to the #1 spot in our worldwide ranking. T-Series collected 3.23 billion monthly views, which was 31% more traffic than what it earned in the previous month. That sum also exceeded all other channels by 33%.
T-Series was the only channel over the three billion view mark in December, and the only other channel to surpass the two billion mark belongs to Anaya Kandhal. That’s the name of the Indian youngster who entertains nearly 20 million subscribers with adorable videos on YouTube Shorts. In December, the Kandhal family enjoyed their best month ever on YouTube. With 2.18 billion monthly views, they improved their traffic by 22% month-over-month and moved from fifth place in the Global Top 100 up to second.
The first non-Indian channel in this month’s Global Top 100 is that of MrBeast. The North Carolina-based creator has turned his channel into a full-fledged company by producing big-budget videos that routinely rake in millions of views. Jimmy Donaldson‘s latest long-form hits, when combined with his short-form output, pushed his primary channel past 1.93 billion monthly views during December 2023. He finished the year just 32 million subscribers short of T Series’ YouTube-leading total.
Toys and Colors had its best month on YouTube in November 2023, when it reeled in enough views to take the #1 spot in the Global Top 100. The family-friendly hub didn’t repeat as the top dog in our Global and U.S. charts, but it did finish fourth in the world after adding 1.83 billion monthly views. 2023 was a big year for Toys and Colors, as the all-ages channel surpassed 50 billion lifetime views. Unfortunately, it ended the year just 200,000 subscribers short of 50 million. You’ll get ’em next year, Toys and Colors.
CoComelon – Nursery Rhymes finished an up-and-down year with a solid month. The Moonbug-owned purveyor of children’s content scored 1.78 billion monthly views to round out the global top five.
Top Gainers
During the first 11 months of 2023, no channels from Peru cracked out Global Top 100 ranking. But in the final 31-day stretch of the year, an attentive creator did his South American homeland proud. Andres El Curioso made it into December’s chart by adapting YouTube Shorts practices that have excelled around the world.
As his YouTube username tells us, Andres is a curious sort who loves watching viral videos. He translates those clips for Spanish-speaking audiences by layering in his own crisp narration and subtitles. Thanks to my high-school-level Spanish, I’m grateful for the latter of those additions. Andres’ simple approach to content aggregation reminds me of Dylan Anderson — so does the global appeal of his videos.
Andres and Anderson probably have some common videos in their respective YouTube libraries. The former creator’s biggest hits include some videos that I’ve seen before on the English-language side of YouTube. Andres is not the only person to examine the strong German server who can carry 13 steins at once; USA Today has also featured her story. And Andres’ most-watched video is a horse-related clip that has also been studied by fellow chart-topping creator Anthony Wreyn.
With his content aggregation skills, Andres El Curioso got 693.2 million monthly views during December 2023. That was good for a 38% month-over-month increase that put Andres in 87th place in the Global Top 100. Four years ago, Andres’ YouTube channel wasn’t even active. Now, he’s one of just four South American creators in our worldwide ranking. That’s how quickly things can change in the wacky world of YouTube Shorts.
