There’s still no change at the front of our Global Top 50 ranking. The channel that outpaced its American competition in November is still rolling along even as the weather outside becomes more frightful.

Here are some updates on the top YouTube channels in the U.S. — and some thoughts about the strategies those channels are applying on Shorts.
Chart Toppers
Toys and Colors is a bright light in the U.S. Top 50. The family-friendly hub maintained its hot streak by adding up 445.1 million weekly views during the first full week of December. Though its viewership declined 13% week-over-week, Toys and Colors is still a huge draw on YouTube, and it has a chance to reach 50 million subscribers before the end of the year. Of course, some other U.S.-based channel could rise up and claim the #1 spot, but right now, Toys and Colors is looking healthier than the fruits and vegetables that show up in its videos.
MrBeast is in second place in the Global Top 50. Jimmy Donaldson continued to stack up views on his main channel, even though he didn’t drop a new big-budget extravaganza during the relevant measurement period. Even when the MrBeast channel encounters delays, it can rely on its strong back catalog. By sharing an array of Shorts to go along with his signature competitions, MrBeast recorded 403.6 million weekly views. His subscriber count on his main channel currently sits at 217 million; no other U.S.-based channel can top that.
_vector_ is next in the U.S. Top 50. With a signature look involving a bowl cut and thick glasses, this YouTube Shorts channel has become a regular presence in our rankings. It achieved a strong ranking of #3 after collecting 303.5 million weekly views during the first full week of December. Even before collecting those views, _vector_ had already reeled in more than 12 billion lifetime YouTube views. With another strong week, this distinctive character will join the 20-million-subscriber club. That would be rare company indeed.
ViralHog is in fourth place in the U.S. Top 50. This short-form standout is one of several channels that has harnessed one of the most prominent YouTube Shorts trends: Content aggregation. By collecting some of the most-watched videos on Shorts and uploading them in a single location, ViralHog pulled in 278.9 million weekly views. That’s an impressive total, even if it was built on the back of reposted content. Someone find HBomberGuy, because I’m ready for his take on his channel and its YouTube Shorts success.
HiFunnie rounds out this week’s U.S. top five. The YouTube Shorts hub finished only a small margin below ViralHog in the charts. It earned its #5 finish thanks to the 278.7 million weekly views.

In previous U.S. Top 50 updates, we’ve chronicled the rise of magicians like SeanDoesMagic and Justin Flom. Those illusionists have become short-form icons by breaking their acts into individual tricks, which they can distribute one minute at a time. Now, those impresarios have company: Xavier Mortimer is the latest magician to put his name into the U.S. Top 50 mix.
Mortimer is from France, but he has taken up residence in Las Vegas, where he touts his “Dream Maker” act as one of the city’s top shows. Mortimer has a lot of competition in Vegas, but on YouTube Shorts, his speed, skill, and presentation stand out. He’s nothing less than a pro’s pro, and YouTube’s short-form audience is starting to notice his prowess. His most-watched Shorts clip has been viewed more than 575 million times, making it one of YouTube’s most popular uploads ever. And yet, out of all those viewers, how many can figure out the secret to Mortimer’s trick?
Videos like these show us why magic works so well on Shorts, as it is a perfect fit for the quick-hitting format. Just months after signing with Viral Nation, Mortimer compiled one of his best-ever weeks on YouTube. He reeled in 104.6 million weekly views to make his first U.S. Top 50 appearance, topping out in 45th place. After increasing his YouTube traffic by 44% week-over-week, Mortimer is now above 3.2 billion lifetime views on YouTube.
What’s fun about Mortimer’s channel is that it’s not just about magic. The Vegas resident offers a full variety show, complete with contortionists and celebrity sightings, right on his channel page. Scrolling through his feed is an easy way to inspire awe, and it’s much cheaper than a trip to Sin City.
