Chart Toppers
It’s been quite the week for MrBeast. Over the weekend, he dropped his latest big-budget video. On Monday, the North Carolina-based sensation (whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson) became the first individual creator to hit 200 million subscribers on YouTube. He’s now landed in first place in the Global Top 50 for the second week in a row. By picking up 730.7 million weekly views, MrBeast brought his lifetime YouTube viewership (on his primary channel) within a stone’s throw of 35 billion. His main hub is one of two Top 50 entrants with at least 200 million subscribers.
The other 200-million-subscriber channel (and the most-subscribed channel on YouTube overall) is sitting in the #2 spot in the Global Top 50. T-Series reached the same chart position it achieved a week ago after earning 618.3 million weekly views. That sum brought the Indian record label above 235 billion lifetime views. No channel has ever received more lifetime views or subscribers than T-Series, but MrBeast is coming on strong in both of those categories. How long will it take him to catch his competition?
The highest-ranking YouTube Shorts channel in the Global Top 50 is ZAMZAM ELECTRONICS TRADING. After rocketing up the charts over the summer, the Dubai electronics store has continued its winning run into the fall. It ended up just short of 500 million weekly views by collecting 497.1 million weekly views during our most recent seven-day measurement period. That was good enough for ZAMZAM to re-run its third-place finish from the previous week, and the Shorts hub also surged past 14 billion lifetime YouTube views.
The #4 spot in the Global Top 50 is also unchanged from last week. Toys and Colors came close to ZAMZAM by collecting 487.3 million weekly views, but the family-friendly destination couldn’t quite move up in our worldwide ranking. Even though it’s still sitting in fourth place, Toys and Colors is trending in the right direction. Its 19% week-over-week traffic increase is the biggest boost among all the channels in this week’s global top five.
The only top-five channel to change its chart position week-over-week is Hayataku. The Japanese YouTube Shorts creator, who placed eighth a week ago, moved up to fifth after bringing in 455.5 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
For the first time, a channel from Ghana has earned a place in the Global Top 50. The West African nation’s representative in the ranking is Ropenga VFX, who has snagged a spot by delivering split-screen YouTube Shorts clips.
Ropenga may be a trailblazer in its home country, but it has turned YouTube Shorts into big business by aggregating hit videos from around the world. Those popular uploads are arranged in a two-by-two grid, and viewers are prompted to choose favorites from among the four contestants. It’s a similar formula to the one pioneered by Who Is The Best, a channel that made its way into the Global Top 50 earlier this year.

By turning YouTube Shorts into a homemade game show, Ropenga VFX reached 47th place in the Global Top 50. The Ghanaian channel collected 191.6 million weekly views, which was an 81% increase over its previous seven-day total. Ropenga moved up more than 150 spots after sitting in 206th place during the first full week of October.
Ropenga’s performance over the past two weeks accounts for a majority of the lifetime traffic the channel has received on YouTube. Next week, the hub known for turning one short-form video into four is all but guaranteed to surpass one billion lifetime YouTube views. One million subscribers will be further down the road, but Ropenga should hit that milestone before the end of 2023.
If Ropenga is able to put out four times as many videos as the typical Shorts channel, will it grow four times as fast? Someone with an analytical mindset may need to check that math.
