Ludwig and YouTube are teaming up for a month-long competition with the goal of answering one question: Who is gaming’s GOAT?
Each week of August, the competition–called World’s Greatest–will unveil a new quartet of potential champs. Those gamers will then go head-to-head in a two-hour scrim session across 11 of 2023’s top games, including Street Fighter 6, Trackmania, XDefiant, Tetris, Minecraft, Genshin Impact, LEGO 2K Drive, Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys, and one more to-be-announced title.
The finals event will pit all gamers against one another for real in a two-day championship Sept. 2-3 in Los Angeles.
The first four competitors announced include six-time Evo champ SonicFox, chess grandmaster akaNemsko, two-time Overwatch League champ supertf, and the Streamer Awards‘ 2023 Gamer of the Year, TenZ.
All August scrim sessions will be livestreamed, and since YouTube Gaming is sponsoring World’s Greatest, we’re assuming those streams will probably be on the official YT Gaming channel, or on Ludwig’s YouTube channel. Exact dates for the scrim livestreams haven’t been announced.
