Four of the five channels at the top of this week’s all-American ranking use 3D characters as the stars of their videos. The message is clear: If you can put video game characters in silly situations, a lot of views will come your way.
Chart Toppers
DaFuq!?Boom! is one animation channel that is succeeding in spite of its unusual premise. Elongated necks snaking out of toilets may not sound like a recipe for success, but there’s no arguing with the numbers DaFuq!?Boom! has delivered over the past two months. The channel also known as blugray continued its reign of dominance in the U.S. Top 50 by adding 655.6 million weekly views. That led it to yet another #1 finish and a sizable advantage over the field — in spite of its 13% week-over-week traffic dip.
MaviGadget has reached its highest-ever ranking in the U.S. Top 50. By demonstrating machines that range from simple to complex, the YouTube Shorts channel has now brought in more than 8.5 million subscribers. That’s impressive for a channel that was relatively unknown before the advent of YouTube Shorts, and MaviGadget only seems to be moving on up. Its inaugural runner-up finish was powered by its 588 million weekly views, which was a 7% week-over-week bump.
CoComelon – Nursery Rhymes finished third in the U.S. Top 50. That placement is hard to fathom, since CoComelon led the U.S. Top 50 for 11 straight weeks earlier this year. Now, it’s even outside of the top five in our Global Top 50. But don’t think for a second that CoComelon is struggling. The kid-friendly channel is as popular as ever among its target audience, and it is turning its cute animated characters into a full-blown franchise. That strategy brought 492.1 million views to the main CoComelon YouTube channel during the week that was.
Welcome to the U.S. top five, XDSchool. It’s the first such appearance for the YouTube Shorts channel, which has picked up about 1.7 billion lifetime views since arriving on YouTube in 2020. 365.7 million of those views came during our most-recent measurement period, when XDSchool improved its traffic by 21% week-over-week. Clearly, there’s a big appetite for academic adventures that star Minecraft‘s creepers and other related characters.
XDSchool should not be confused with BigSchool, which ranked fifth in this week’s U.S. top five. The two channels are quite similar in their love of scholastic Minecraft comedy. BigSchool picked up 360.8 million weekly views in our latest count.

For FunnyMike, YouTube has been a long and fascinating journey. The man born MacArthur Johnson inaugurated his current YouTube channel in 2016, about two years before he became a cast member on the competitive sketch show Wild N’ Out. That gig made sense given Mike’s long-form track record on YouTube. His most popular videos in that format are music videos and comedy clips.
Now, thanks to YouTube Shorts, Mike is writing a new chapter in his fascinating career. By posting videos that run for one minute or less, he has reached his highest-ever position in our charts. He reached 18th place in the U.S. Top 50 by more than doubling his viewership week-over-week. In total, he picked up 215 million weekly views as the calendar turned over to July.
Transitioning to Shorts has allowed Mike to diversify his video offerings. He’s more than just a musical comedian, and he proves it by uploading heartwarming fare, pranks, and the oldest science experiment on YouTube: The ol’ Diet Coke and Mentos volcano. Amidst all that variety, Mike still finds space for the silliness that gives him his Funny moniker.

Mike is taking steps to make sure that his YouTube Shorts operation will have some longevity. He recently collaborated with the Trench Family, who also appear in this week’s U.S. Top 50 (in 46th place). Clearly, this enterprising funnyman is paying attention to the evolving short-form culture on YouTube, and based on the viewership he’s receiving, he will be emboldened to continue his push.
Channel Distribution
This week, there are 39 YouTube Shorts channels in the U.S. Top 50.
