Since YouTube introduced its Shorts format, our Top 50 rankings have been dominated by channels that produce vertical videos.

This week, that trend is as stark as its ever been. Of the first 25 channels in our U.S. Top 50, all but four ply their respective trades on YouTube Shorts.
Chart Toppers
DaFuq!?Boom! is the first short-form channel in the U.S. Top 50 and the #1 overall channel in the ranking. The YouTube Shorts success story has shot to the top of the chart by pioneering a potty-themed series called Skibidi Toilet. Who knows how much staying power that joke has, but for now, it’s on top of the world. DaFuq!?Boom! got 690 million weekly views during the third week of June.
The channel that DaFuq!?Boom! replaced in the #1 spot has since been entrenched as our American runner-up. CoComelon – Nursery Rhymes delivered its usual second-place finish in the U.S. Top 50 after collecting 525.4 million weekly views. Though CoComelon is lagging behind its short-form rival in terms of weekly views, it still holds several distinctions. Among all U.S.-based YouTube channels, it has the most lifetime views and the most subscribers.
MaviGadget is right behind CoComelon for the second week in a row. With videos about tools, gizmos, and other manmade doodads, the YouTube Shorts channel registered 430.7 million weekly views in our latest count. MaviGadget may not have the same longevity as the CoComelons of the world, but it is rising fast. This time next week, expect it to have six billion lifetime views, and it has a great shot to reach 10 million subscribers before the end of the year.
BigSchool completed an unchanged top four in the U.S. Top 50. Like the three channels ahead of it, the animation hub reran its previous finish despite losing some of its traffic week-over-week. For BigSchool, the drop wasn’t significant. Its sum of 412.7 million weekly views was similar to the total it posted a week prior, and the YouTube Shorts channel is closing in on MaviGadget in the #3 spot.
The only new channel in this week’s U.S. top five is ViralHog. After winding up sixth a week ago, the short-form aggregator moved into the top five thanks to 324.1 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
How long will it take before there’s nothing but MrBeast channels in the U.S. Top 50? Perhaps that’s not a realistic goal for the man born Jimmy Donaldson, but he seems intent on dominating our American ranking.
Let’s take a roll call: First off, there’s the channel that’s just called MrBeast, which became a fixture in our U.S. Top 50 after Donaldson chose to post YouTube Shorts content there. Eventually, some of his short-form videos migrated to the channel called MrBeast 2, which made appearances of its own in our all-American ranking.
The latest Donaldson-run channel to venture into the Top 50 is MrBeast Gaming, where the 25-year-old creator documents his adventures in video game worlds. The interesting thing about that channel is that its library is full of long-form videos. In the age of short-form domination, MrBeast is striking gold with classic “Let’s Play” videos.
MrBeast Gaming may be bucking trends, but it’s doing so with aplomb. It reached 43rd place in the U.S. Top 50 after collecting 133 million weekly views. This time next week, it will probably surpass six billion lifetime views, which will make it the second MrBeast channel to reach that mark.
It may seem like everyone in the U.S. Top 50 is all in on YouTube Shorts. Donaldson, who posts plenty of Shorts himself, is no exception. At the same time, he’s proving there’s still room in the chart for channels that get their hits the old-fashioned way.
Channel Distribution
This week, there are 38 YouTube Shorts channels in the U.S. Top 50.
