Breakout kids’ channel Gracie’s Corner brings “Girl Power” to Snoop Dogg’s Doggyland

Snoop Dogg‘s nine-month-old family content brand is teaming up with a channel that has pulled in more than 1.1 billion lifetime views on YouTube. That channel is Gracie’s Corner, whose owners have agreed to produce a collection of empowering videos alongside Snoop’s Doggyland hub.

The partnership will unite two animation channels that have similar aspirations in the family programming space. Snoop launched Doggyland last year to deliver hip hop-inflected versions of classic kids’ songs. Gracie’s Corner arrived on YouTube during the pandemic after Dr. Javoris Hollingsworth discovered that his daughter Gracie was struggling to find girls who look like her in children’s videos.

Together, Snoop and Gracie are providing positive representation for Black girls on YouTube, and their initial collaboration celebrates Gracie’s identity. ‘Girl Power’ is a feminist anthem performed by Gracie’s animated avatar and Bow Wizzle, the character Snoop voices in Doggyland videos. The song combines empowering lyrics with colorful visuals and an R&B beat. A 2D version of the music video can be found on the Gracie’s Corner channel, while its 3D counterpart is available through Doggyland.

By amassing a ten-digit YouTube view count in less than three years, Gracie’s Corner is proving that YouTube’s youngest viewers are eager to see diverse characters depicted on screen. The Hollingsworth family has taken that trend to heart by centering identities that are often marginalized in children’s media.

“Partnering with Doggyland is an extension of our core mission of inclusion,” said Gracie’s mom, Dr. Arlene Hollingsworth, in a statement. “It is our hope for all children to see themselves fully celebrated in animation and empowered to move through the world with confidence.”

Young Gracie described Snoop as a “musical icon” and expressed excitement about the opportunity to collaborate with him. Dr. Javoris Hollingsworth served as the ‘Girl Power’ executive producer alongside Snoop Dogg and his Doggyland business partner, Claude Brooks.

Beyond the Gracie’s Corner collab, the Doggyland channel is filled with a deep catalog of sing-songy videos. The YouTube Kids brand is also active on Shorts; thanks to its multiformat approach, Doggyland has picked up 50 million YouTube views in just nine months.
