TikTok‘s newest feature is powered by IMDb.
The two are collaborating on a tool that allows users to link directly to up to five TV shows and movies per video—and when those links are tapped, they’ll open a “dedicated in-app page” that “highlights essential data about the movie or TV show”–with that data, of course, ported straight from IMDb.
The in-app pages will offer info about movies’ and shows’ top cast members, directors, original release dates, runtimes, and ratings from viewers and critics. Users can also pin movies and TV shows to favorites tab of their TikTok profiles, so people who visit their pages know if they’re currently digging Avatar: The Way of Water or mourning 1899‘s cancellation (or both).

On top of data about the actual shows/films users link, the IMDb x TikTok feature pages will give visitors information about other shows and movies that are similar to them.
And, on the TikTok side, the in-app page will show other TikTok videos that have linked the same movie or TV show.
“TikTok’s global community of movie and TV enthusiasts is incredibly active and passionate, with more than 25 billion combined views for the hashtags #FilmTok, #MovieTok, and #TVTok,” Grace Li, director of strategic partnerships at TikTok and ByteDance, said in a statement. “As we continue to find new ways to enrich the TikTok experience, this new feature, developed in collaboration with IMDb, gives our community more opportunities to discover, create, and share the content they love.”
Nikki Santoro, chief operating officer at IMDb, added, “This innovative collaboration enables TikTok creators to showcase and share the movies and shows they love, further extending the IMDb mission to help customers discover and decide what to watch and listen to, wherever they are.”
For now, the feature is only available to users in the United States and the United Kingdom. Folks with access to it will see a new option called “Movie and TV” under the “Add link” section in TikTok’s video editor. From that option, users can pick from more than 12 million movies and shows listed on IMDb.
Once the video is posted, the linked movies/shows will appear in its caption, and will each have their own clickable/tappable link.
