Chart Toppers
After dropping down to second place last week, T-Series has regained the #1 spot in the Global Top 50. The Indian record label, which also has the most lifetime views on YouTube, added 651.1 million weekly views to its chart-leading total. T-Series surpassed 230 million subscribers as well. Only two other channels in the Top 50 are within 100 million of that impressive total.
As T-Series regained its strong position, it leaped ahead of the channel that found itself on top of our worldwide ranking a week ago. Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes is still the most-watched hub among all U.S.-based channels, but after losing 16% of its viewership week-over-week, it could not stay ahead of T-Series. In spite of that dip, Cocomelon ended up with 603.3 million weekly views, placing it well ahead of the third-place finisher.
The channel that routinely hangs out with T-Series and Cocomelon in our Global Top 50 is sitting behind those leaders in the latest ranking. SET India, a South Asian channel that delivers TV content to its audience of 147 million subscribers, held onto its previous chart position as the calendar turned over to December. It maintained its hold on #3 after claiming 484.3 million weekly views.
KL BRO Biju Rithvik is the highest-ranking YouTube Shorts channel in this week’s Global Top 50. The family-oriented channel is the third Indian channel in the top four. After getting 448.9 million weekly views, it now has more than seven billion views over its relatively short lifetime on YouTube. KL Bro’s first two years of uploads have been extraordinary. What do the coming months hold for the short-form standout?
Rounding out the global top five, we have Hasan Tarhan. The Shorts creator controls one of three Turkish channels in this week’s Global Top 50. He got the #5 spot with 381.5 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
On YouTube, there is a long history of older kids playing with toys meant for small children. Jojo Siwa was ten when she became a toddler icon, and kidfluencers like Ryan Kaji are now heading toward their tween years after starting on YouTube as toddlers.
Hayataku is the latest example of that trend. If you look at the Japanese creator’s Instagram, he seems like a fairly ordinary teen. On YouTube Shorts, however, he has accrued hundreds of millions of views by playing with toys. When Hayataku acts out battles between dolls and action figures, he has all the zeal of a little kid with a big imagination, and he delights young viewers by adding sound effects to his big-kid playtime (which, unnervingly, sometimes references Squid Game).
That video, the third-most watched short on Hayataku’s channel, is a big part of his recent success. Since he started uploading to YouTube Shorts earlier this year, the energetic entertainer has picked up about 674 million lifetime views. By earning 181.6 million of those views over a seven-day period (and increasing his traffic by 17% in the process), Hayataku was able to claim the very last spot in our Global Top 50.
With his large collection of dolls and his ability to think up dramatic, kid-friendly situations from scratch, Hayataku has a chance to reach even higher than #50. He won’t get any younger, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem.
