After one channel spent the first four months of the year in firm control of the top position in our American ranking, it has been unseated by a different kid-friendly hub. That channel has now received the most views among U.S.-based hubs for the third week in a row.
In May, Like Nastya is three for three.
The Floridian channel, whose titular star appeals to children across the world, is tops in the U.S. It reached the #1 spot for the third straight week even though it lost 19% of its viewership week-over-week. The 651.8 million weekly views it did accumulate were more than enough to keep it ahead of the domestic field. Before the end of the year, look for Like Nastya to reach 100 million subscribers as well.
Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes, which has been on top of this chart more than any other channel, could only settle for second place in our latest update. The California-based animator beat out all U.S.-based channels but one by achieving 472.2 million weekly views. It lost 16% of its viewership week-over-week, but then again, every channel in this week’s U.S. top five is in the red when compared to last week’s totals.
The highest-ranking YouTube Shorts channel in the U.S. Top 50 is LeoNata Family. By combining two of YouTube’s hottest trends — short-form content and family-focused videos — LeoNata has roared up the charts. Even though the channel was only launched last September, it already has 8.9 billion lifetime views, and it added 284.6 million weekly views to that total after our latest count was completed.
Fourth place in the U.S. Top 50 goes to Kids Diana Show for the second-straight week. Similarly to Like Nastya, Kids Diana is a Florida-based hub that originated in Eastern Europe. Diana and her family are about to cross 75 billion lifetime views, though this week’s total left them just short of that mark. They added 265.8 million weekly views in total.
Lanky Box rounds out this week’s U.S. top five. The gaming, entertainment, and pop culture channel is known for combining short-form and long-form content to achieve big results. It registered 256.1 million weekly views in our most up-to-date tally.
On YouTube Shorts, laughter can be contagious. Sometimes, it can even get a little weird.
Just Smiley is one of the entrants in this week’s U.S. Top 50. The YouTube Shorts hub moved up to 33rd place in the chart, and that’s the highest position it has ever reached. Its secret is simple: Lots and lots and lots of smiling emojis.
Here’s a typical Just Smiley short. If you didn’t know this video was meant to be comedic based on its subject matter, you definitely got the hint after seeing 14 crying laughing emojis and listening to a soundtrack of loud cackles.
That sort of over-the-top presentation is ridiculous enough to generate laughs all on its own, but sometimes, things get a bit odd…and maybe even Joker-y. I’m not sure what’s so funny about Just Smiley’s most-watched video, which has been seen more than 28 million times. It features some handy woodworking, but the video’s background noise really wants you to crack up — even if you don’t really have a reason for such riotous laughter.
Whatever’s going on here, the YouTube algorithm loves it. With 102 million weekly views this week, Just Smiley ranked in the top 20 among YouTube Shorts channels based in the U.S. I have to say, it really is funny that such a strange channel can get so many views.
