Even when the most popular YouTube channel in the world loses viewership week-over-week, it rarely falls out of the #1 spot in our Global Top 50 ranking.

This week, that channel accelerated its viewership. When that happens, it’s game over for everyone else.
Chart Toppers
T-Series got 7% more views this week than it did over the previous seven-day period. Ultimately, the record label hauled in 657 million weekly views, which was more than enough to keep its status as the most-watched YouTube channel in the world. The pop culture hub is also inching closer to a milestone that has never been reached before. It now needs only 10.8 billion views to claim 200 billion lifetime views on YouTube.
It will be a while before any other channel approaches 200 billion lifetime views, but the most likely candidate to reach that mark (other than T-Series) is #2 in this week’s Global Top 50. Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes got 538.9 million weekly views, which pushed its all-time total to 127.9 billion. So yeah, Cocomelon won’t get to 200 billion this year like T-Series will, but maybe the California-based animator will be able to celebrate that achievement sometime in 2023.
In third place, we’re welcoming SET India back to the Global Top 50. The Indian TV hub, which is owned and operated by Sony, is a regular in these parts, and its latest seven-day viewership figure — 470.5 million weekly views — explains why it shows up in our charts so often. SET India’s sister channel, Sony SAB, finished just outside the global top five at #6.
Like Nastya‘s viewership surged upward by 19% week-over-week, which allowed the US-based family channel to finish fifth in our Global Top 50. The vlog moved up from seventh thanks to its 413.2 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
May is an exciting month in the world of soccer. Domestic leagues conclude, the UEFA Champions League reaches its climax, and warm weather sends amateur footballers into parks and streets. Perhaps the excitement of this time of year explains why Foot Mood had such a strong week on YouTube.
The short-form channel, which flies the now-familiar flag of Ukraine, is devoted to all things football (or soccer, for us state-siders). If you peruse the list of Foot Mood’s most-watched clips, you’ll see the names and faces of the sports top stars, including Messi, Salah, and Neymar. But this channel doesn’t rely on star power alone. It also brings in a fan perspective, so that we can revel in failure as ordinary people attempt to “kick it like Zlatan.”

That video, which has received 61.6 million views, helped Foot Mood score in our Global Top 50 this week. The sports channel amassed 172.5 million weekly views, which was 33% more traffic than what it pulled in a week ago. Amusingly, it also finished in 33rd place in our worldwide ranking. I’d call that a coincidence but perhaps its expression of the perfect symmetry of The Beautiful Game.

- United States: 19 channels in the Top 50.
- India: 15 channels in the Top 50.
- Pakistan: 4 channels in the Top 50.
- Turkey: 3 channels in the Top 50.
- Japan: 2 channels in the Top 50.
- Argentina, Mexico, Russia, United Kingdom, and Vietnam: 1 each in the Top 50.
This week, 26 channels in the Top 50 are primarily active on YouTube Shorts.
