FaZe Clan and Current join forces for fintech partnership

FaZe Clan has tapped Current as its official fintech partner.

The digital bank—which targets Gen Z and millennial users and has made influencer team-ups a major part of its marketing—will give FaZe Clan members “new tools and resources to creatively engage their fans using Current’s mobile banking products,” per a representative.

The partnership will also see Current sponsor the final episode of Road to FaZe1, the esports and entertainment org’s weekly live Twitch show giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at its latest recruitment drive, FaZe1.

FaZe1 kicked off in January and has so far narrowed thousands of creator submissions down to 100 top finalists. Only one applicant will ultimately succeed, and in addition to joining FaZe as a member, they’ll receive $1 million in cryptocurrency, a $250,000 GFuel sponsorship, and a new Nissan GTR.

But FaZe1 runner-ups aren’t walking away empty-handed. Current says it’s giving all top 20 finalists $1,000 on its app, including $250 to re-gift to their fans.

Finalists are being announced today during Current’s sponsored episode of Road to FaZe1, which airs at 3 p.m. Pacific on FaZe Clan’s Twitch channel.

Current says it’s also giving away $500 to some FaZe fans who use its banking services. To enter, plug in the code “FAZE1” on Current’s app.

“Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed FaZe Clan revolutionize gaming and internet culture as true innovators in the creator space,” Adam Hadi, VP of marketing at Current, said in a statement. “With this new commitment to each other, we’re able to work together to create meaningful cultural moments and produce content that’s not only engaging but also improves their fans’ financial lives, which furthers our mission at Current.”

In his own statement, Adam Bauer, FaZe Clan’s SVP of brand partnerships, said, “We are proud to partner with Current as the official fintech partner of FaZe Clan. The partnership came together through our shared vision for being at the forefront of internet culture through innovative storytelling and supporting next generation financial technology that can benefit our community and our fans.”

Current has previously collaborated with FaZe Clan members including FaZe Swagg and FaZe Rug. Outside of FaZe Clan, it’s worked with creators like MrBeast (who’s also an investor in Current), Airrack, and Rahul Rai.
