America loves short Shorts, if our U.S. Top 50 is to be believed.
31 channels in our latest star-spangled ranking operate primarily on YouTube’s TikTok competitor, which celebrated its first birthday last October. Despite that imbalance, it is a long-form channel that continues to sit at the top of our American chart.
Chart Toppers
The top three channels in this week’s U.S. Top 50 all cater to YouTube’s youngest set of viewers. No kid-friendly content producer reaches quite as many viewers as Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes. The California-based company has 125 million subscribers to go along with the large audience it draws on Netflix. For the week, its YouTube traffic totaled 828.7 million weekly views, which easily exceeded the totals of other top U.S.-based channels.
The only other U.S.-based channel in the same stratosphere as Cocomelon this week is Like Nastya. The Florida-based family vlog continued to reel in a solid stream of views. In our latest measurement period, it picked up 701.9 million weekly views in all. Like Nastya isn’t just second in the U.S. Top 50 this week; among the channels that cracked the chart, Nastya’s home is also second in all-time views, with 67.9 billion of them.
The highest-ranking YouTube Shorts channel in this week’s U.S. chart is SMOL. Its 423.3 million weekly views allowed it to outpace all other U.S.-based channels that operate on YouTube’s TikTok competitor. Despite only launching in March 2021, SMOL already has more than 5.4 billion lifetime views
LankyBox had a big week and secured the #4 spot in our up-to-date U.S. Top 50. The destination known for its gaming, entertainment, and comedy videos experienced a 20% week-over-week traffic increase, which allowed it to collect 381 million weekly views and move from eighth place in the U.S. up to fourth.
Vlad and Niki rounds out our latest U.S. top five. The family vlog, which has Russian roots, snatched up 337.1 million weekly views during the first full week of January.
Top Gainers
A channel in this week’s U.S. Top 50 caters to kids with big brains and bigger appetites.
After breaking out on TikTok, Hungry Fam is now attracting an audience on YouTube. The channel follows the Irvine, California-based Lin family, led by mother Julie and father Sonsern.
The adults in the room may be running Hungry Fam, but as we saw when we discussed The McCartys last week, the real stars of the Lin family are the children — especially three-year-old daughter Sarang, who is developing quite the palate.
How mady people Sarang’s age can say they’ve tried matcha ice cream? The older Lin child has taken a taste of it, and her adorable reaction has pulled in more than 73 million YouTube views in all.
Clips like these attract both young viewers and foodies, which has helped the Hungry Fam reach an impressive chart position this week. Our most-recent data set shows 97.7 million weekly views for the Lin family’s YouTube home, which is about twice as many hits as what the channel received a week ago. With that boost, Hungry Fam reached 47th place in the U.S. Top 50.
I’m happy for them, especially since this means that we’ll now see Sarang try many more flavors of ice cream.
