This week, only two channels in the whole world picked up more than 500 million views on YouTube, and they have a lot in common.

Both of them are based in India, both feature some of the nation’s top acting stars, and both have improved their chart position since last week’s global ranking came out. Read on to learn which one of them snagged the #1 spot (it’s probably the one you think.)
The channel at the top of our Tubefilter Charts this week is T-Series. The Indian record label, which has more views and subscribers than any other channel on YouTube, added to its impressive totals this week by registering 530.6 million weekly views. That was about 12% more traffic than what T-Series pulled in the week prior, and that increase allowed the South Asian channel to jump from fourth place in our Global Top 50 up to first.
The other Indian channel I alluded to in this week’s preamble is Sony SAB. The TV-adjacent channel, which focuses largely on comedic content and appeals to YouTube’s massive South Asian audience, scooped up 500.9 million weekly views during the last full week of September. While that total was slightly less than what Sony SAB accrued over the previous seven days, it was enough to push the TV channel up to second place in our global ranking.
The next three channels in this week’s global top 50 all specialize in short-form content. Julius Dein, a TikTok star from the UK, reached the #3 position after scoring 491 million weekly views. This is the highest position Dein has achieved in our Global Top 50; last week, the micro video-making Brit occupied the ninth spot in the ranking.
The fourth-place finisher in this week’s Global Top 50, SMOL, is a relative newcomer to these parts. By posting DIY clips, lifehacks, and other pieces of short-form content, SMOL has risen rapidly up the ranks. Over our latest seven-day measurement period, the YouTube Shorts standout snagged 435.1 million weekly views.
LankyBox rounds out this week’s global top five. The US-based channel casts a wide net, and that strategy — which incorporates video game content, pop culture-inspired sketches, and TikTok-style videos — has allowed it to become quite popular. LankyBox’s latest seven-day totals include 381 million weekly views.
How do you take an ordinary cooking video and turn it into an online video goldmine? Let’s take a look at the recipe.
Step one: Begin with cooking video. Step two: add cat. Step three: Go viral on TikTok. Step four: Branch out from TikTok to YouTube Shorts. Step five: ???? Step six: Profit.
That’s the story, in so many words, of That Little Puff, a cooking channel (with some ASMR elements) that took 39th place in our latest global top 50.
The star of That Little Puff is feline in nature, and most of the channel’s videos begin with a cat’s reaction to a TikTok food trend. Then, we watch as the cat’s paw stirs the pot to cook up the recipe in question. That formula may sound silly, but it involves a cat, and is therefore internet gold. In our most recent chart, That Little Puff scored 143.8 million weekly views. That was 23% more traffic than what the US-based hub registered a week ago, and thanks to its upward surge, That Little Puff moved up 24 places in our global ranking.
If cats aren’t your thing, don’t worry. That Little Puff just introduced its newest chef, ClicBot. One wonders if this addition to the kitchen, who would not be out of place in the movie WALL-E, is a response to the success of robot-themed channels on TikTok and YouTube. I wouldn’t be surprised, since That Little Puff’s owners have shown that they are willing to follow prevailing trends on the path to digital stardom.

- United States: 16 channels in the Top 50.
- India: 15 channels in the Top 50.
- Canada, Pakistan, Romania, South Korea, Thailand, and United Kingdom: 2 channels in the Top 50.
- Argentina, Belarus, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Russia, and Turkey: 1 channel each in the Top 50.
