This week, in order to qualify as one of the five most-viewed YouTube channels in the world, videomakers needed to accrue at least 450 million views over a seven-day period. The global top 50 is a little less exclusive, but still requires its members to accrue nine-digit viewership in a single week. Read on for more facts and figures related to YouTube’s top channels.

Several channels can boast weekly traffic in excess of 450 million views, but only one can say it received at least 600 million weekly views during our most-recent update. T-Series remains the #1 channel in the world thanks to a seven-day period in which it received 627.9 million weekly views. The Indian record has a cushion of more than 73 million views over the week’s next-most trafficked channel, which is Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes. The American animation hub moved up one spot in our global ranking after tallying 554.4 million weekly views.
A pair of sister channels finished back-to-back in the top five. Sony SAB (which was fifth in our worldwide top 50 a week ago) claimed the #3 spot, while SET India (third last week) wound up in fourth. Both channels are owned by Sony and offer TV content to a primarily South Asian audience. SAB, which specializes in comedy content, counted 542.2 million weekly views in our mid-May update. SET India, a longtime entrant in our global top 50, added 538.1 million weekly views during our most recent measurement period.
TIKTORIKI rounded out this week’s global top five. The Israel-based channel surprised us last week by reaching the #4 spot; in the process, it displayed the power of the nascent YouTube Shorts platform. TIKTORIKI has since dropped down a spot, but it is still going strong. Its latest seven-day total included 459.6 million weekly views.
K-pop videos do well on YouTube and sometimes vault South Korea’s top labels into our charts, but when we see K-pop in our global top 50, it’s usually because of BTS or Blackpink. Not this week. Those two groups and their labels (Big Hit and YG, respectively) are outside of the global top 50, but there is a space in the chart for SMTOWN, the digital hub owned by Korean hitmakers SM Entertainment.
Over the past week, SMTOWN YouTube videos received 127.9 million weekly views, which was more than twice as much traffic than what the channel received a week ago. After sitting outside of the the global top 250 last week, SMTOWN is now pulling the 42nd-highest weekly viewership in the world.
Where are these hits coming from? One word: aespa. We discussed the quartet when it made a splash with its debut last year, and in 2021, the group is out to prove it’s far from a one-hit wonder. The latest aespa video, which features the song “Next Level,” needed only a single day to receive more than 30 million views. Next level, indeed! It’s clear as day that aespa is here to stay.
Here’s a breakdown of the Top 50 Most Viewed channels this week in terms of their countries of origin:
- United States: 18 channels in the Top 50.
- India: 16 channels in the Top 50.
- Russia and United Arab Emirates: 3 channels in the Top 50.
- Pakistan and South Korea: 2 channels in the Top 50.
- Argentina, Belarus, Canada, Israel, Romania, and Vietnam: 1 channel each in the Top 50.
