Beau Avril Departs Leading Role At YouTube’s FameBit, Nabs Global Marketing Position At Facebook

Facebook has hired noted digital video ad exec Beau Avril as its new director of global brand and video product marketing, per his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to joining Facebook, Avril worked at Google in a variety of positions for over 13 years — most recently serving as the director and global head of business for FameBit, an influencer marketing platform acquired by YouTube’s parent company in Oct. 2016. FameBit serves as YouTube’s in-house branded content platform, harnessing Google’s own data, measurement, and analytics to pair up influencers and brands for sponsored videos.

According to LinkedIn, Avril departed FameBit last November. In his new role at Facebook beginning on Monday, Avril will oversee cross-product business marketing for numerous Facebook-owned platforms, including its flagship service as well as Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Oculus

At Famebit, Avril managed all business operations, including oversight of FameBit’s own direct sales and campaign management teams, as well as its self-service marketplace. Avril also managed FameBit’s connection to Google and YouTube ad products, measurement tools, pricing, and packaging, as well as partnerships with brands, talent agencies, multi-channel networks, and creators. Prior to his appointment as director of FameBit, Avril served as global head of product commercialization for Google Preferred — a YouTube ad program that allows marketers to run campaigns alongside the site’s most engaged-with and popular channels.

We’ve reached out to YouTube to see whether a replacement for Avril has been named, and will update this story with any additional information.
