Description: Two Australian creators are looking to premiere the misadventures of a pair of humorously-mismatched characters. David Hoey and Nicholas Burton are the minds behind Dave & Theo, a comedy that is seeking funding after completing the production of its first season.

In Dave & Theo, “straight laced” Dave (Laurence Boxhall) and “crazy, energetic” Theo (Burton) are homeless friends who are doing whatever it takes to make better lives for themselves. According to the project’s pitch video, the duo will “break the law, fabricate infatuation, disregard workplace policies, and steal children’s Christmas presents,” all in the pursuit of their goals. Oh, and they have a cat.

Hoey and Burton have already shot six 12-minute episodes, but with the funds they hope to raise on Indiegogo, they will be able to add polish to their project and submit it to film festivals. Their goal is to introduce a pair of wacky characters and ensure “the success of our series.”

Creator Bio: Hoey’s previous work includes the short film ‘Recollection,’ which can be found on Vimeo.

Best Perk: The $200 package includes a personalized love song performed by the show’s titular leads. It can be in any genre you want, so you should probably request Gregorian chanting.

Why You Should Fund It: With projects from little-known creators (i.e. this one), it can help to look for certain key phrases. In this case, the presence of words like “surreal,” “offbeat,” and “vibrancy” in Hoey and Burton’s pitch is a good sign that they’re attempting to do something unique with their web series. The fact that the series has already been shot shows that its creators are commitment to their work, and I for one am excited to see what sort of unusual adventures these two Aussies have in store for their on-screen personae.
