Instagram Stars Justin And Nick Interview DNC Chairman Tom Perez As Part Of Voter Outreach Effort

‘Tis the season for voter outreach in the online video community. On the same day that NowThis launched a voter registration initiative alongside Black-ish star Yara Shahidi, Instagram stars Justin & Nick posted a video in which they and their friends interview Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez about the DNC’s voter rights initiatives ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.

Justin & Nick, who have reached more than a half-million followers on Instagram with their fitness content, got the chance to chat with Perez during their trip to the March for Our Lives, which took place in Washington, D.C. on March 24. During the talk, the social-famous couple and their friends learned what efforts the DNC is taking to register voters in 2018. Much of the political body’s activity in that area is based around IWillVote, a campaign that encourages Americans of all ages to check their voter registration status.

The first part of Justin & Nick’s encounter with Perez is now available on the couple’s YouTube channel. The whole interview has been split into three parts; the other two are expected to arrive soon.

Online video influencers, whose audiences are predominantly young, may have many first-time voters among their respective audiences. For that reason, they are useful partners for politicians, many of whom chatted with social media standouts during the 2016 election cycle. As the 2018 midterms approach, don’t be surprised if a handful of other creators get opportunities like the one Justin & Nick received.
