The fastest thing alive is coming to YouTube. Sega will bring its mascot, Sonic The Hedgehog, to a series of animated videos that are collectively titled Sonic Mania Adventures.
Sonic Mania Adventures is tied into the 2017 video game Sonic Mania, which received praise for returning to the franchise’s roots and offering the sort of fast-paced gameplay fans enjoy. Adventures will be a throwback in its own right. Sonic starred in a pair of animated series in the 90s, at least one of which is fondly remembered to this day.
The better of those two shows was noted for its dark and gritty tone, but Sonic Mania Adventures seems as if it will feature the light, energetic tone that has defined most of the blue hedgehog’s best work over the past 27 years. A trailer for the series features plenty of bright colors:
Five episodes of Sonic Mania Adventures are planned. The first one will arrive next month.
