Cheddar Arrives In 85 Airports, 5,000 Hotels With New Distribution Deal (Exclusive)

Streaming business news network Cheddar has arrived on 2,000 screens in 85 airports across the U.S. and Canada thanks to a brand new pact with ReachMe.TV — which distributes video programming in high-traffic public spaces, including airports, retail stores, and hotels.

CEO Jon Steinberg said the idea to bring Cheddar’s daily top stories and interviews to airport travelers — as well as the 5,000 hotels within the ReachMe.TV network — occurred to him while killing time before a flight. “I was sitting in Newark Airport at the bar having a scotch and eating grilled chicken before my flight. I looked up, saw ReachMe.TV, and decided Cheddar was perfect for those screens,” he said. “Cheddar will now be available to millions and millions of travellers who are the perfect audience.”

All told, ReachMe says it has more than 100 million monthly viewers. The company’s content offer includes sports, current events, news, and more. In addition to a flagship deal with CBS Television, ReachMe also creates its own original content, and has developed tech that connects public screens with the mobile devices of passersby. In 2018, the company is eyeing a European expansion.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer our viewers an alternative to standard television formats while still being broadcasted from the iconic New York Stock Exchange, where the companies have over $20 trillion dollars in market capitalization,” ReachMe TV co-founder and CEO Lynnwood Bibbens said in a statement.

Cheddar is also available on Sling TV, Amazon, Philo, Twitter, Pluto TV, Comcast X1, Twitch, and 60% of smart TVs in America.
