YouTube Produces Documentary About Puerto Rican Music Sensation Ozuna

Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, known by the stage name Ozuna, is one of the hottest Latin music artists in the world. On a recent list regarding the top 25 “songs of the summer” across the globe, the Puerto Rican performer’s name appeared four times, with songs like “Tu Foto” making the cut.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ozuna’s work, or if you’re a fan who wants more details about his life, YouTube wants to help you as you get to know him. The video site has produced a documentary called “Musica Sin Fronteras,” which tracks Ozuna’s journey from his Caribbean upbringing to his current status as an international superstar.

The short film, which runs for a little more than seven minutes, features insights from Ozuna himself as well as from his fans and colleagues. It is in Spanish with English subtitles.

“YouTube is a universal platform that allows me to reach people in Japan, China or Egypt, countries that I would never be able to reach otherwise” Ozuna said in a YouTube blog post. “It is the most important platform to reach the entire world.”

YouTube has recently produced several documentaries related to popular musicians. Simply Complicated, which looks into the life of pop star Demi Lovato, premiered last month to strong viewership and a positive reception.

‘Musica Sin Fronteras’ is not just a look into a single performer’s life, but an examination of a musical movement that has taken over YouTube in recent years. Ozuna is just one of many popular Latino artists, but his story can help elucidate his culture for viewers across the globe.
