Creators Of Web Series ‘I Mom So Hard’ Link Up With Producer Rob Thomas For CBS Pilot

Two of the internet’s sauciest moms are making a move to bring their shtick to TV. Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, the two women behind the web series I Mom So Hard, have landed a pilot production commitment from CBS, which they will fulfill with help from Veronica Mars and Party Down creator Rob Thomas.

I Mom So Hard is a simple and straightforward web series in which Hensley and Smedley sit in front of a camera and chat about the sort of issues that are relevant to mothers such as themselves. Their topics of conversation range from swimsuits to body hair to post-partum depression, but no what they choose to discuss, they approach their subjects with a combination of humor and honesty. These videos have proved popular enough to bring more than one million followers to the official I Mom So Hard Facebook page.

As Hensley and Smedley look to bring their work to TV, they will work alongside Thomas’ Spondoolie Productions, which will team up with Warner Bros Television to produce the forthcoming pilot. Michelle Nader, the one-time showrunner of CBS’ 2 Broke Girls, will serve as a writer and executive producer for the I Mom So Hard adaptation.

Network TV companies have started to recognize the viability of the web series-to-TV pipeline, which has produced cable hits like Broad City and InsecureDownward Dog, a web series that features the existential thoughts of a talking pooch, recently arrived on ABC to positive reviews. Should Hensley and Smedley find a smart way to present their material to network viewers, they’ll have plenty of laughs in store as well.
