On September 25, one day before the annual Streamy Awards, the first-ever Purpose Awards will celebrate online video creators who have championed just causes over the past year. Adjacent to that ceremony, some of the event’s honorees and advisory board members will have a chance to practice the upstanding principles they preach. On the day of the show, they will join UnitedHealthcare and the Los Angeles Dodgers for a “Day of Service and Play” that will include volunteer work at a local elementary school.
The Day of Service is part of UnitedHealthcare’s Do Good Live Well campaign, which aims to create healthier communities by reminding people to eat right and exercise regularly. This year, the Day of Service will take place at LA’s Allesandro Elementary School, where members of the Dodgers and Purpose Awards figures will interact with students. One stated goal of the initiative is to promote the “100 Mile Club,” through which Allesandro is encouraging its youngsters to walk 100 miles during the school year.
The Purpose Awards are a collaboration between the cause marketing and social impact agency, Force Multiply and Tubefilter. This year’s honorees, announced back in August, will include Hannah Hart, Jérôme Jarre, and Lilly Singh, while the Advisory Board is composed of industry heavyweights like Tyler Oakley, Gary Vaynerchuk, Brent Weinstein, and more.
For The Purpose Awards, the day of service is defined as a “legacy event” through which honorees and board members can make a difference in the show’s host city. For more information about The Purpose Awards, check out the event’s website.
