’90s Classics ‘Roseanne’, ‘3rd Rock From The Sun’, More To Arrive On Amazon Prime

Nineties sitcom fans, rejoice: iconic titles including Roseanne, 3rd Rock From The Sun, A Different World, Grace Under Fire, Cybill, and Grounded For Life are arriving this month on Amazon Prime.

The beloved shows will be available exclusively on Prime thanks to a deal between Amazon Video Direct (AVD), a self-service distribution program, and FilmRise, a leading distributor of movies and TV shows. AVD enables studios and distributors to upload their content to Amazon for free, and then monetize via different viewing options — including the ability to rent, buy, watch via Prime, purchase as an add-on subscription, or watch with ads. Distributers can also track how their shows and films are performing in real-time via a proprietary dashboard.

Each of the aforementioned shows is owned by FilmRise, which is one of AVD’s largest partners. And the latest crop of sitcoms coming to Prime marks its biggest acquisition deal with FilmRise to date.

Roseanne and 3rd Rock From The Sun are available on Prime right now, while FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher told Decider that new series will be added every week. Cybill, Grace Under Fire, A Different World, and Grounded For Life have never been available on any streaming platform before.

“We work with Netflix, Hulu, and many, many other platforms,” Fished told Decider. “The difference with AVD is we control everything. We create the artwork, we create the descriptions, we create the thumbnails, and we literally deliver it via the internet.” Fisher also noted that FilmRise generates 83 million hours of viewership on Amazon annually, which has resulted in yearly revenues of tens of millions of dollars.
