Rooster Teeth Makes Bid For Living Rooms, Arrives On Apple TV And Xbox One

Rooster Teeth is making a bid for the living room. The digital-bred production outfit has announced today its launch on both Apple TV and Xbox One for members of Rooster Teeth First, the company’s subscription service. Rooster Teeth, which is behind series like RWBY, Day 5, and Crunch Time, says it currently has 200,000 First subscribers — up 125% year-over-year.

There are several different tiers of Rooster Teeth First. A $4.99 per month option, for instance, provides ad-free streaming of exclusive content, while a $34.99 per month gets users a monthly RT Box of exclusive merch.

The Apple TV and Xbox One TV apps will provide yet another viewing destination for Rooster Teeth fans. The company already distributes content through its flagship website and iPhone and Android apps. The company says it has already banked 5,000 hours of original content and produces 25 additional hours of animated, video game, and geek-related programming every week. Rooster Teeth, which was acquired by Fullscreen in 2014, has a global footprint of more than 25 million YouTube subscribers.

“As we’ve expanded into more premium content, where episodes can be up to an hour long, we’ve realized our audience wants the option of a lean-back experience, to watch these shows from their couch, and our new apps support that,” said Matt Hullum, Rooster Teeth’s co-founder and CEO, in a statement.

The company said that later this year it will launch on more living room devices through VRV, an anime, video game, and comedy-skewing subscription service from Ellation that will also carry content from Machinima, CollegeHumor, Tested, Funimation, and Mondo Media.
