Alert the presses and break out the red lipstick: Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Haters Back Off — the hotly-anticipated series starring YouTuber Colleen Ballinger-Evans, which represents Netflix’s first original series starring a digital influencer.
In the teaser — a kind of spoof of traditional movie trailers — various stats about Ballinger-Evans’ Miranda Sings character flash across the screen, including her one billion YouTube views and 6.5 million subscribers. “Discover the voice that started it all,” the trailer promises, before Miranda is unveiled in all her glory in the midst of one of her signature wails.
In addition to seeing Miranda in the flesh on the small screen for the very first time, fans will also get their first glimpse at Miranda’s uncle, Jim, who is being played by The Grinder’s Steve Little. In her bedroom, as Jim helps Miranda set up a shot for one of her first YouTube videos, he says, “Some day soon, and for the rest of their lives, the world will thank us for this.”
Last month, Netflix unveiled the first production stills from Haters Back Off, which is slated to arrive on Netflix on Oct. 12. “Releasing the teaser today was literally such a tease,” Ballinger-Evans tweeted in response to the news. “I want to show you all SO MUCH MORE! IT’S ALL COMING SOOOON!” Check it out right here:
