Jimmy Fallon’s Face-Warping ‘Bonk!’ Segment Becomes A Mobile App

Watch out, selfie-takers; you’re about to get bonked. NBC has launched an app called Bonk!, which is inspired by a segment of the same name from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

In each Bonk! segment, Fallon pretends to be a German TV host called Fritz Vandenbonk whose sole job consists of smushing celebrity faces into weird, warped positions. It’s not a particularly highbrow joke, but that doesn’t mean you won’t laugh when the “bonked” versions of famous faces are first displayed.

The Tonight Show team wanted to give its viewers a chance to bonk themselves, and thus an app was born. With Bonk!, which is currently available for free on the App Store, users can contort their own countenance into whatever odd shape they desire. The app comes with a facial recognition feature (a la Snapchat) as well as the basic social tools one needs to share his or her bonks.

To promote the release of the Bonk! app, Fallon brought the accompanying segment back to The Tonight Show. In part two of Bonk!, he gave wacky facial treatments to in-the-moment celebs like Donald Trump and Ryan Lochte, as well as the cast of Seinfeld (or, as Vandenbonk calls it, Bonkfeld).

Bonk! lives on the App Store alongside NBC’s other mobile developments. One of The Peacock’s most significant ventures onto phones and tablets is Seeso, a subscription video service that offers comedy programming for $3.99 per month.
