U.K. daily vlogger Ben Brown and his best friend, the fashion, travel, and lifestyle creator Steve Booker, have launched a brand new series that aims to transform the mundane act of taking a selfie into an epic adventure.
In their new show, aptly dubbed #MissionSelfie, Brown and Booker will travel the world — from Iceland to the Canary Islands to Berlin to Dubai — in search of remote and exotic locales that might serve as selfie backdrops. In order to make the journey that much more exciting, they have challenged themselves to capture a single snapshot in 48 hours. The show will also feature hashtagged challenges for viewers to complete in every episode.
“Millennials are sometimes mislabeled as a vain or shallow generation,” according to The Narrative, a London-based digital and film studio that is executive producing the series alongside Brown, Booker, and Andrea Olsson for BBC Worldwide. “#MissionSelfie wants to redefine that. The show is designed to inspire people to turn the camera and not take a photo of yourself, but capture a memory for life.”

All five 15-minute episodes of the series are currently available in the U.K. on BBC3 iPlayer, which began as a television channel targeting millennials but became a full-time digital destination earlier this year. #MissionSelfie will eventually roll out to international markets. In the meantime, an Instagram page for the show has built a passionate community of roughly 13,000 followers sharing their own travel photography.
