People, Believe Entertainment Group Feature Digital Media Stars In ‘Social Currency’

A new web series produced by Believe Entertainment Group brings top digital content creators to the People website. The celebrity-focused publication is the home of Social Currency, which gives YouTube and Vine stars a chance to chat with one another and asks them to share some secrets to their success.

The ten content creators who will appear two-at-a-time across five Social Currency episodes are Shira Lazar (who is also the show’s Executive Producer), Bart Baker, Jason Nash, The Gabbie Show, Cassey Ho, Jenn Im, Joslyn Davis, Erin Robinson, Sam Wilkinson, and Twan Kuyper. Each installment will divulge several tricks of the trade as the featured YouTube and Vine stars look back upon their respective paths to success.

Here’s the first episode, which follows Baker’s career from film student to top Internet parodist:

“The People and EW brands reach 20 million millennials and are growing,” said JJ Miller, Executive Producer for People and Entertainment Weekly, in a press release. “The time is ripe to cover these popular content creators on all of People’s platforms—including original digital video series, since they are the newest crop of celebrities and rising stars.”

Social Currency arrives at a time when the two companies behind it both have big plans for online video. Believe Entertainment Group, which has produced web series like The Lebrons and Money Where Your Mouth Is, has worked closely with media partners since launching a studio division last year. For People, Social Currency is part of a big video push from publisher Time Inc., which has devoted a lot of resources online over the past year.

New episodes of Social Currency will arrive each week on the People website.
