Adam Goldman’s ‘The Outs’ Launches Second Season Through Vimeo On Demand

An indie web series that premiered to critical acclaim in 2012 has returned with a second season. The Outs, Adam Goldman’s exploration of the life of a gay man in New York, has launched the first of its brand-new episodes through Vimeo On Demand.

The Outs first premiered in 2012 and quickly won fans thanks to Goldman’s assured direction, a handful of subtle-yet-strong acting performances, and a witty script. As it turned out, though, one of the best choices Goldman made was his decision to distribute his show through Vimeo. In 2015, as the video site searched for programs to include in its first full slate of original programming, it turned to Goldman. Almost six months later, season two of The Outs is here, and its picks up the story of Mitchell (play by Goldman) as he navigates his complex romantic life in the city.

“This season of The Outs is a weird thing: it feels simultaneously like a completely new project but also like a natural evolution from the first season,” Goldman told The Huffington Post. “Obviously, having Vimeo’s support meant we could really blow out the production value in certain respects, though to be honest the heart of the show is about relationships, and those are probably stronger when they’re not being explored in the middle of, say, a car chase or something like that.”

While The Outs has been on hiatus since 2013, Goldman has remained busy. He directed a few episodes of Eat Our Feelings, a Streamy-winning web series created by his Outs co-star Sasha Winters. On TV, he served as one of the writers for the 69th Tony Awards in 2015.

The Outs, however, remains the achievement for which Goldman is best known, and its second season, which will feature half hour-length episodes, represents a step up in terms of its production values. You’re welcome to check out the first new episode through Vimeo On Demand, where it will later be joined by five more. Downloading all six will run you $14.99.
