Ovation TV Channel Launches Multi-Channel Network On YouTube

On its cable TV channel, Ovation offers a slate of programs centered around creative people and the art they create. Now, Ovation is extending that mission to YouTube. It has launched Ovation Digital Arts, a multi-channel network that will work with a select group of creators.

At the top of its MCN, Ovation has turned to Stephen Dypiangco, who will serve as the VP of Ovation Digital Arts. Dypiangco, who is perhaps best known online as one-half of the National Film Society, most recently worked behind-the-scenes at YouTube Nation, which curated the best videos from around YouTube until its final episode in December 2014.

At Ovation Digital Arts, Dypiangco will oversee a network that will feature a small-but-talented group of partners in categories like dance, photography, animation, painting, and music. “We are establishing a groundbreaking artist community by linking extremely talented YouTube creators and America’s only 24/7 television network dedicated to the arts,” said Dypiangco in a release. “Targeted distribution and promotion to arts-loving viewers is where we excel, and we will actively spotlight our channel partners on Ovation shows, invite them to host programs, and source their talents for new original programming.”

The first channel within the Ovation Digital Arts network is the company’s own YouTube channel, which features additional content from the channel’s shows:

By paying close attention to a small group of partners, Ovation Digital Arts will utilize the “boutique MCN” approach employed by networks like Geek & Sundry and Jukin Media.  With that approach, Ovation hopes to make its network distinct from what company CEO Charles Segars calls the “big, clearing-house MCNs” of the online video industry.

Ovation’s TV channel has 54 million subscribers. The company’s VOD service reaches 30 million homes.
