Back in November 2014, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) announced the creation of its new Digital Video Center of Excellence division. Now, the organization has appointed several digital, television, and technology executives to its official board of directors, including names from YouTube, Facebook, AOL, Maker Studios, Machinima, Hulu, and CBS Interactive.
Over 29 different global leaders with a range of sales, content, distribution, advertising, and management skills joined the Digital Video Center’s board of directors. The group is tasked with setting up best practices and resources for digital video, researching related data and trends, and spurring on the development of the quickly-burgeoning digital video industry as a whole.
Hulu’s Senior Vice President of Sales Peter Naylor, who was made chairman of the Digital Video Center back in November, was heavily involved in selecting and recruiting the Center’s new board of directors.

“With its broad membership and deep expertise spanning functions from technology to content, IAB is uniquely positioned to unite all parts of the video ecosystem,” Naylor said in a release. “The breadth of high-level executives on the Digital Video Center’s board is reflective of the multifaceted nature of digital video today. This group of leaders will provide the types of insights and guidance that will help us successfully navigate the current cross-screen landscape.”
IAB’s SVP of Mobile and Video Anna Bager, who also serves as the Digital Video Center’s General Manager, told Adweek, “Digital video is a huge new market that is incredibly complex: long form, short form video, mobile, UGC (user generated content), etc. We need to establish a deeper understanding of the advertising opportunities, measurement, and effectiveness for all of these.” To that end, Naylor and the board of directors will aim “to make and execute on decisions that will ultimately help marketers grow their businesses through digital video advertising and marketing.”
