Description: Average Joe started back in 2012 when it debuted on Funny or Die. The series, which bears many similarities to a typical Judd Apatow film, follows the life of not-so-average Joe, played by creator Joe Flanders. While Joe’s trials at first seem to match those of the average adult male, he nevertheless manages to get into awkward, crazy, yet totally priceless situations, especially in the realm of dating. His acerbic friends aren’t exactly competent at helping him succeed, either. The potential Average Joe season three will presumably be a continuation of Joe’s misadventures.

Creator Bio: Flanders is a comedy writer and director who attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. According to an interview with Under the Gun, Flanders “bounced around” from different jobs and projects in Los Angeles before getting Average Joe season one off the ground.

Best Perk: You can spend $20 on this campaign and get a nice bundle of benefits. In addition to a personal tweet and access to behind-the-scenes video production diaries from Flanders, you’ll get early access to all season three episodes before they go public. Plus, Flanders will record your outgoing voicemail message, if you dare use it on your phone.

Why You Should Fund It: Flanders’ Indiegogo campaign video seems to indicate the creators haven’t yet filmed any of the 13 promised episodes. However, Average Joe season three holds a lot of potential. First of all, the popularity of the last two seasons means Flanders and his crew can now use YouTube Space LA to film their show, which means production value will improve overall. Flanders has also already lined up several guest stars for season three who will be announced at a later date.

Additionally, if Flanders sticks to the same format and writing which made the past two seasons of Average Joe so well-received, you’ll undoubtedly be rewarded with plenty more adult-themed humor. That’s likely incentive in and of itself for the “immature mature audiences” Average Joe has catered to in the past.
