Description: Man in Ceiling is a film about a young man who is looking to steady himself in life. To meet that goal, he takes a menial data entry job, and one night, while he is the alone in the office, he hears the voice of his predecessor, who lives in the ceiling. Creator Josh Fu (no relation to the YouTuber of the same name) is intentionally keeping plot details about his project scarce, but he hopes to raise the funds he needs to create a 15-minute short film.

Fu has revealed some of his casting decisions for the film. While the actor who will portray the titular man in ceiling is still undecided, Fu has tapped Matt Porter, who we’ve noted for his work in Good Cop Great Cop and New Timers, as the office drone protagonist.

Fu shares some other details in his Kickstarter pitch video for Man in Ceiling:

Creator Bio: Fu is a film school grad who has run social media for film distribution company Oscilloscope Labs. His other works and assorted ramblings can be found on his blog.

Best Perk: For $50, Fu will write an “Out of Office” message for your email, which is perfect for the next time you need to go hide in a ceiling.

Why You Should Fund It: Fu’s writing shows plenty of polish, but for me, the most exciting part of Man in Ceiling is Porter, who in his web series work has distinguished himself as a strong comedic performer with great timing. As the lead character, we can expect Porter’s chops to be on display here, and Fu’s screenplay should be up to the task.

Unlike some other crowdfunding projects, Man in Ceiling still needs to be shot, so it’s hard to know exactly what we can expect from it. At the same time, it’s a fun concept and an intriguing indie project worth keeping an eye on.
