On January 5th, NASA released a massive image of the Andromeda Galaxy. The picture, which is 69,536 pixels wide, 22,230 pixels tall, and 4.3 gigabytes in size, is spectacular on its own, but a few high-definition videos take the experience to the next level. A Reddit user has posted a YouTube video that zooms through the Andromeda Galaxy in 4K quality.
The user behind the video goes by floatyverve on Reddit and daveachuk on YouTube. He created the flythrough by cutting together various parts of NASA’s big image, which was shot by the Hubble Space Telescope. The result is titled “Gigapixels of Andromeda,” and it can be viewed in 4K. If your computer can’t handle that, I suppose 1080p will do.

NASA has also offered a few videos of its own, including one that includes commentary on the features of the galaxy. They are cool because space is cool, and these videos represent a sort of Powers of Ten for the Internet age.
