Bravo Creates New Web Series To Complement ‘Best New Restaurant’

Bravo Media wanted to give viewers more than just another TV show with Best New Restaurant. The cable network created a web series called Secret Service set to premiere on January 21, 2015 as a companion to the television property.

Secret Service will debut after the first episode of Best New Restaurant and pick up where the TV show leaves off. The action on traditional television screens is hosted and judged by chef Tom Colicchio (who’s previously hosted Bravo’s Emmy-award-winning web series Last Chance Kitchen, the digital companion to Top Chef). The show pits sixteen restaurants from New York, Los Angeles, Austin, and Miami against each other for the title of best establishment. The counterpart web series will take the eight winners from the preliminary round of Colicchio’s judging and task them with a secret challenge to help determine who will move on to the semifinals.

But Secret Service actually has a secondary goal in mind, as hinted at by the series’ enigmatic title. In the web series, Colicchio will also

send in undercover food experts to these remaining eight restaurants to determine their worth precisely when they think they’re not being judged. Bravo partnered with Buick to drive the experts around to the various establishments, and they’ll be filming their dining experiences with hidden cameras. Colicchio will show the footage at the semifinals and eliminate four restaurants based on what he sees.

Bravo will also round out its digital slate of programming to supplement Best New Restaurant with a video series called Restaurant Secrets Revealed! The episodes will reveal tips and tricks from culinary experts so viewers can learn to cook as they do, behind-the-scenes tours of the TV show’s competing restaurants, and more.

New episodes of Secret Service will be released every Wednesday night starting January 21 at 11 PM EST after Best New Restaurant on BravoTV.com. You’ll also be able to watch Secret Service via video on demand, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Xbox.
