Tyler Oakley Goes Meta, Watches Teens React To His Videos

Tyler Oakley found an extremely meta way to see what teenagers think about him. The engaging YouTuber, who has more than 6 million subscribers on his channel, watched the episode of The Fine Bros Teens React series in which the titular teens viewed his videos.

Oakley posted his reaction-to-the-reactions video on December 5, 2014. The currently-blue-haired digital star starts off by wondering if people will be mean, but he then disregards that thought, reasoning that he’s been on the Internet for seven years and “can handle mean.” Despite Oakley’s claim that The Fine Bros’ video will be “so hard” for him to watch, the cheerful YouTuber seems to enjoy the teens’ reactions to him. When one teen says he won’t watch Oakley’s videos again, Oakley seems unfazed, explaining he knows he’s not for everyone.

Many of the teenagers featured in the episode were already familiar with the digital star, and that comes as little surprise. Oakley has enjoyed a very successful YouTube career, which has allowed him to meet the First Lady, start a podcast, and go on tour. He’s also used his on-screen presence to raise money for charity and became a Streamy Awards ICON winner thanks to his activism.

Oakley is by no means the first YouTuber to react to a Fine Bros’ Teens React episode about his own videos. Other online video stars who have chosen to go meta and watch the React videos about their work include CaptainSparklez, KSI, Dan and Phil, Smosh, and Rhett & Link.
