It’s another installment of the Top 100 Most Subscribed YouTube Channels Worldwide and there’s a new twentysomething in the #1 spot.
Chart Toppers
Felix Kjellberg‘s PewDiePie channel is not at the top of our Most Subscribed YouTube channels chart this month. Taylor Swift ended the Swedish gamer’s three-month streak. The country-turned-pop star’s recent album release of 1989 and its accompanying music videos gave Swift’s channel a massive 152% month-over-month increase in subscribers to end up with more than 819,000 new subs in November. Meanwhile, PewDiePie and his repository of Let’s Play gaming videos scored over 690,000 new subscribers.

Up next in the #3 spot is the YouTube home of gamer Mark Edward Fischbach, better known online as MarkiplierGame. His catalog of self-proclaimed “hilarious gaming videos, original comedy sketches, animated parodies, and other various bits of entertainment” added an additional 637,000 subscribers in the month. Next up is our second female pop star in the Top 5, Ariana Grande. The online video masses seem to want to love her harder and added over 488,000 new subscribers to her channel during the 30-day timeframe. And rounding out the Top 5 is Meghan Trainor. The third female pop star at the top of the chart had no trouble tacking on an additional 435,000 subscribers to her channel.
Top Gainers
The honor of one of our Top Gainers this month goes to One Direction.
The YouTube home of the British boyband (and not its VEVO channel, though that did well this month, too) witnessed a massive 779% month-over-month increase in subscribers thanks in large part to a live stream event in promotion of the act’s latest album. Nail, Zayn, Liam, Harry, and Louis held a 40-minute hangout back on November 9, 2014, during which they answered questions they’d never answered before, recorded an acoustic version of “Steal My Girl,” and added a lot of new subscribers. The initiative helped give their own YouTube channel an additional 189,000 subs and the #65 spot on the chart.

The Top 100 Most Subscribed YouTube channels in the month amassed in aggregate a total of 26,567,750 new subscribers. Here’s a look at the distribution of a few of those channels broken down by the most-represented YouTube Multi-Channel Networks on the chart:
VEVO: 18 channels in the Top 100 Most Subscribed, with Taylor Swiftat #1.
Maker Studios:11 channels in the Top 100, with PewDiePie at #2.
Collective Digital Studio: 7 channels in the Top 100, with Good Mythical Morning at #8.
Fullscreen, Machinima: 6 channels each in the Top 100, with Fullscreen’s PrankInvasion at #7 and Machinima’s VanossGaming at #6.
BuzzFeed, DEFY Media, StyleHaul: 4 channels each in the Top 100, with BuzzFeed’s BuzzFeed Video at #20, DEFY’s ScreenJunkies at #75, and StyleHaul’s zoella280390 at #47.
OmniaMediaCo: 2 channels in the Top 100, with MiniMinter at #67.
