LIVE: SAG Foundation Presents Excellence in Web TV

The Screen Actors Guild Foundation is an “educational, humanitarian and philanthropic 501(c)(3) non-profit organization” founded in 1985 with a mission to “enhance the lives of actors by investing in programs which help them in their professional endeavors and the communities in which they live.”

That’s an informative, but kinda dry explanation. Here’s Alec Baldwin

with a more palatable description in the medium of moving pictures:

Now that we know what the SAG Foundation is, let’s get into greater detail about at least one thing the organization is doing in the very near future.

Somewhere under the umbrella of “enhance the lives of actors by investing in program” rests an educational event that will take place Wednesday, July 25th at 7PM Eastern / 5PM Pacific and be live streamed to the online masses straight from the New York Institute of Technology’s beautiful Auditorium on Broadway in NYC.

Excellence in Web TV: Creating, Marketing & Building an Audience for New Media will feature some stellar panelists (and one heck of a moderator) discussing, informing the audience on, and arguing about the current state of the online video landscape, best practices on how to get started in new media, what online video consumers are watching online, how they’re watching it, and more.

Presented by the SAG Foundation and SAG-AFTRA New Media, the following online video professionals will be participating in the LiveRaft live streamed Q&A:

  • Nick Bernardone (NBC Digital, 30 Rock),
  • Josh Bernhard (Writer/Executive Producer, Pioneer One)
  • Jesse Cowell (Director of Content, My Damn Channel),
  • Jane Hu (Global Creator Programs Lead, Next Lab, YouTube),
  • Susan Miller (Executive Producer/Writer, Anyone But Me)
  • Moderator: Joshua Cohen (Tubefilter, The Streamy Awards)

You can follow the action on stage live by tuning in below. (Note: Online viewers do not need to log on to our website to view the stream nor do they need to be a union actor.  It’s open to everybody!)

You can also stay up to speed with the event and ask a question or two via Twitter. Just Tweet to @SAGFoundation or #SAGF. Be sure to tune in.
